about this site, a collection of movie-fed daydreams...
Life is simply one grand excuse to watch movies and then sit around and think about them. While my education was honed by reviewing films for Gannett, Tribune, McClatchy, The News Corporation and Knight-Ridder, my personality - or rather my taste - was shaped largely in my old neighborhood movie theater and on my parents' living room floor. Watching movies. And falling in love with the unacclaimed. Passionately.

Love how this captures the movie. Wild stuff.
Joe, years ago a friend of mine did several "variations" of the VERTIGO poster, with me in the James Stewart role. They were awesome. Unfortunately, I "left" them at work when I left work! Have been kicking myself ever since. Marvin
Vertigo and Bell Book Candle are my fave Kim Novak movies. She was GORGEOUS. The first time I went to SF, I insisted we go to Ernies . . . and yeah, I wore a backless black dress whether I needed to or not.
Going off-topic, I must comment on the erudition of your followers. Have audiences really grown in sophistication? I mean, for example, the concept of flash forward/flash back in movies. Was that technique actually confusing? It doesn't take much intelligence to catch on to the change. Some movies use a character relating a story, which is then pictured, others merely shift scenes, sometimes keyed by watery, wavery camera action, but changes in locale, appearance, and the action itself makes the transition fairly easy to follow. Maybe I'm off-base, but authors like Agatha Christie starting in the 1930s drew a huge following showing that people in small, often English, villages displayed characteristics that applied across cultural lines. Surely movie audiences are like her villagers, with universal qualities and ability to observe and analyze.
As always, time spent on your blog, whether about features new or familiar adds immensely to knowledge I deem valuable. I'm in intelligent company reading your columns and those made by your commenters. You are also a treasure!
