But I was floored that this awards show actually has a category for child actors and honored Jacob Tremblay. It was pretty good, but it was strictly by-the-numbers-for-Oscar's-sake. As good as Will Smith is in the film, I don't see it as an award-worthy performance. Now that it came up empty in terms of awards, I predict it will fade fast.McKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18439960.post-37735849624641532252016-01-17T15:13:00.302-05:002016-01-17T15:13:00.302-05:00Everyone says how much more fun the Golden Globes ...Everyone says how much more fun the Golden Globes are than the Oscars, but no one has pointed out that the Globes are much more diverse. She retained her credibility after doing no less than two franchise series, "The Hunger Games" and "X-Men" - while Kristen Stewart has been penalized for "Twilight." We've all read the stories - and the books - about estranged parent and child in Hollywood, kids who are abused by their star parent or simply neglected. So how can we expect respect for children from the Academy when some of its members are alienated from their own kids?Veronicanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18439960.post-86407266989955410032016-01-17T13:25:36.446-05:002016-01-17T13:25:36.446-05:00Yes, the Oscars are traditionally condescending to...Yes, the Oscars are traditionally condescending towards child actors who are almost never nominated and, on the rare occasion when they are, they're considered "supporting," as you say, no matter how large the role is or how important the child is to the plot. Then they turned against her. Then the tweens dumped her when she broke up with Pattison. Her ability never changed, only her "image" which became distorted. But now they are with merit. The show itself is a lumbering embarrassment and the winners become predictable way before the nominations are even announced. There's no surprise or unpreditability - about either the winners or the jokes about them. Consequently, I feel as if I've already seen this year's show.Sheilanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18439960.post-783544695571342652016-01-17T08:39:23.540-05:002016-01-17T08:39:23.540-05:00Holy Moley, this is like reading ' Gone with t...Holy Moley, this is like reading ' Gone with the Wind '....ha,ha,ha......Waltnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18439960.post-86280785192164448942016-01-17T07:20:30.004-05:002016-01-17T07:20:30.004-05:00I LOVED Clouds of Sils Maria; thought that Kristen...I LOVED Clouds of Sils Maria; thought that Kristen Stewart was a "revelation" in it.
